Amazing Grace

2 Corinthians 12: 7-9 "And least I should be exalted above measure..... there was given to me a thorn in the flesh.... For this thing i besought the Lord that it might depart from me. And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Sometimes when we hear the words "amazing grace" we immediately think about the grace that saved us. We think of grace as kindness, blessing, or favor, but seldom do we think of grace as power. Yet  the Apostle Paul wrote in the second Corinthian letter that when he was weak, God's grace gave him power. The word "power" is from the Greek word "dunamis," which means miraculous power, might or strength. This Greek word is from where we get our English word dynamite.

God's grace is like dynamite when we are weak and His power suddenly surprises us. Amazing grace literally means "a wonderful surprising power." God's grace saves us and then empowers us to walk through the trails of life.

The Amazing Grace is a reminder that God's surprising power is available for all His children when we cry out to Him in our times of weakness.
