The Mended Heart
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted; to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified." Isaiah 61:1,3
Anyone who lives upon this earth will at some time experience a broken heart. When it happens we are unsure how to handle the pain or the healing we desperately need, but we have a great physician who is able.
Anita was inspired to design this piece because of the suffering she had seen a friend endure. She observed the loving power of the Great Physician as He stitched her friends broken heart back together.
This heart shaped piece has a rough appearance to symbolize a heart that has been broke and scared. The cross in the center has the appearance of stitches which are a reminder that he is the only one who can heal the broken hearted. Finally the small heart on the back of the cross represents hope and rebirth that comes from a heart mended by Christ.
