The God of the Bible makes and keeps covenants. He never makes a promise lightly or fails to keep His word. The cross powerfully sealed his commitment to us. In a wonderful way, the marriage covenant is a symbol of the covenants of God. It is more than a promise or good intention, it is a holy vow made before witnesses.
Anita created this cross in honor of the wedding of her nephew Jonathan. The dove on the front signifies the presence of the Holy Spirit witnessing to the covenant. The two rings on the back are reminders of wedding rings. The larger ring that surrounds the smaller indicates the leadership and protection that Jesus Christ provides for his people and that the husband provides for his wife. Finally, the nails go through the front to the back and bind the two rings together, symbolizing how Jesus binds us to each other and to himself.
